Woody Park and Lift the Latch

Episode 11 of 30

The keepers of a Somerset cottage garden and an area of parkland in Devon attempt to have their gardens accepted into the National Gardens Scheme.

Series which follows people's attempts to have their gardens accepted into the demanding National Gardens Scheme.

Lift the Latch is an impeccably kept two-acre cottage garden in Somerset with year-round interest, filled with a variety of evergreens. Pauline has lovingly worked on the garden for 23 years, and even the devastating news that she has cancer won't stop her trying to open. Pauline's picture perfect cottage garden is ruined by the unsightly back garden that is supposedly the responsibility of her husband David. With Carol's help, can they transform a wasteland of a garden and bring it up to the same standard as the rest?

Woody Park in Devon is 35 acres of parkland, of which almost half is lakes and ponds. Colin and Enid Folds have created a labour of love with their fish farm, and after family losses through cancer they would both love to open for the NGS and make money for cancer charities. The garden's big problem is a number of fallen trees and a boggy patch of grass next to the house - with Carol's help they can hopefully overcome the hurdle and be accepted into the Yellow Book.
