1/4. Tim looks at Venice, which for centuries was the most important musical centre in Europe. With the stunning St Mark's Basilica as its focal point, Venice became the centre for music publishing early in the 16th century and composers flocked to the city. Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Galuppi and Vivaldi are all names synonymous with the pomp and power of Venetian music.
