Semi Final: Germany v Turkey

Gary Lineker presents coverage from the first of the semi-finals of Euro 2008.
Due to a power failure in Vienna this broadcast suffered a loss of pictures for short periods during the match.

Gary Lineker is joined by Alan Hansen, Alan Shearer and Martin O'Neill for the first of the semi-finals of Euro 2008 as Joachim Low's Germany take on Fatih Terim's Turkey at Basel's St Jakob-Park.

Having scraped last minute goals in their previous two games against the Czech Republic and Croatia, Turkey are the surprise package of Euro 2008 and will have no fear as they face the three-times European champions. They have, however, been decimated through injuries and suspensions and with nine players unavailable for selection, they may even be forced to call on third-choice keeper Tolgan Zengin to play outfield.

Germany have improved steadily throughout the tournament and in Lukas Podolski and Michael Ballack they boast two of the tournament's outstanding players. In the previous round they combined typical strength and organisation with fluid passing as they swept aside a well-fancied Portugal side and go into the clash with Turkey as strong favourites to reach the final in Vienna.

Commentary from John Motson and Mark Lawrenson.
