Young Gaelic writers consider the possible reintroduction of extinct species into the Highlands.

An EU directive states that animal species once indigenous to, but now extinct from, rural regions of Europe should be reintroduced wherever possible. It's led to a great deal of debate about what is in line for a comeback to the Scottish Highlands.

As a mother concerned for the safety of her children, Se貌naid MacDonald has a fear of teeth and tusks. This governs her approach to the wild boar being brought back, albeit under closely controlled conditions, to the Highlands. However, she now appreciates the valuable job the animals do for woodland regeneration with their rootling feeding techniques.
