The Organist Entertains. Nigel Ogden presents a programme of popular organ recordings.

Ever since the development of instruments which were able to produce organ sounds without pipes many thousands of people have treated themselves to an electronic one at home, perhaps as an alternative or, indeed, an addition to the traditional family piano. Well the obvious big advantage is that most electronic organs don't take up any more space than a piano and don't really need a lot of maintenance. However, when it comes to installing a traditional pipe organ in the home, things do get a bit more complicated, and not just in terms of actually finding space for all the pipes. In tonight's programme you can hear the stories and the music from those that have been brave enough to rearrange their homes to accommodate some impressive instruments.
