See Hear talks exclusively to Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin, who became an international star after her performance in Children of a Lesser God.
Marlee discusses her life and work and reveals that despite professional triumph at a young age, she was struggling with the aftermath of sexual abuse, domestic violence and drug addiction. She has overcome every setback with steely determination to continue her successful career in films and TV drama, and become a mother of four, a campaigner for the deaf community and, most recently, a feisty competitor on the American version of Strictly Come Dancing. In the meantime, she has become a role model for deaf people and sometimes come in for criticism as a result.
See Hear also asks what she means to the British deaf community and finds out why she has had the same male interpreter for nearly a quarter of a century.
