With thoughts of McCabe weighing heavily on his mind, Lenny wants to get to the bottom of who has betrayed him. Ewan briefly falls under suspicion but it becomes clear the traitor in Lenny’s midst is one of his most loyal emissaries, Tony.

But before Lenny can act, two burly henchmen arrive to give Lenny a message from McCabe – this is his patch now. A shocked Ewan finds Lenny beaten up and, as he cleans his father’s wounds, becomes disturbed by Lenny’s desperation for revenge.

On top of this, a brief visit from Amber goes badly and Lenny is suddenly gripped by a pain in his chest which he insists is just indigestion. But Lenny’s health deteriorates, preventing him from enacting his revenge upon Tony. When Ewan takes Lenny to Marianne, Lenny is surprised and embarrassed by her diagnosis of a panic attack. A worried Amber and Lydia arrive at the surgery but Lenny bluffs and claims he’s fine. Both leave disgusted, thinking it’s all been a ploy to win his way back into their lives.

When Lenny speaks to Marianne about the panic attacks he realises that they may be caused by how he is feeling about his past. Thinking he needs to make peace with his demons – Lenny goes to confession. As Lenny bares his soul to Father Mulvaney, Ewan goes after Tony. A terrified Tony warns Ewan that he doesn’t know what Lenny is capable of. Meanwhile Lenny walks out of the confessional smiling and realising Marianne was right – he does feel better…

As Franco’s funeral approaches, Joanne’s behaviour becomes increasingly odd. She seems more concerned with looking good and having Ewan by her side than spending time with her family and, more importantly, her son. Ruth’s concerns about Joanne’s behaviour falls on deaf ears. That is until Joanne jets off to London for Nazir’s funeral leaving Gina and Romeo behind. Finally the scales fall from Gina’s eyes as she realises that Ruth could be right – there is something very wrong with Joanne’s behaviour.

A glum Charlie tells Innes that he just lost his job and is worried about his finances. Innes comes to the rescue with a flyer for a film competition and a hefty cash prize. Charlie jumps at the chance and dusts off some old story ideas to show Innes but when Innes keeps on rejecting them it becomes clear that this project is more about Innes’ ambition to be the next ‘Tarantino’ than Charlie’s writing. While Innes goes about recruiting Robbie, Hayley and Amber to star in his new horror film, Charlie jumps ship and takes a job in the pub.

It’s Gordon’s birthday but he decides to cancel his planned celebration in the Tall Ship because of the funeral. Not wanting to see him disappointed, Hayley arranges for some cake and champagne at the hairdressers instead. A surprised Gordon is delighted when they pop open the bubbly and is clearly touched when Hayley makes a speech, commenting on what a great mentor he has been. Later, Jack takes Gordon for a drink, and warns him that it’s time he told Hayley the truth about him being her father or else he can’t promise he won’t let it slip…
