Mark Lamarr presents the best music you never knew you loved from the last 70 years plus a great session from this week's guests Alabama 3.

Mark Lamarr presents the best music you never knew you loved from the last 70 years, alongside the finest live sessions. This is where garage meets soul, punk meets country, and 30s yodelling collides with 70s dub and 90s hip hop. Plus some country acid house music with Alabama 3.

In honour of this weeks band Alabama 3, Mark dedicates the show to all things Alabama. He celebrates the music created in the studios of Muscle Shoals in Alabama and plays tracks by artists such as Arthur Conley, Wilson Picket, Jimmy Hughes, Bettye Swan, Cher and Lulu, all of who have recorded at the studio at some point in their career. The featured artists this week are The Blind Boys of Alabama. A gospel group, hailing from Alabama, they formed back in 1939 when they first met at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind at Talladega. Over seventy years on the band are still going although the line up has changed over the years, but founding member Jimmy Carter is still singing lead vocals. Plus there will be this weeks new releases and listeners' requests.
