The Great Britain and Northern Ireland team must try and bridge the gap to defending champions Russia, having finished a distant second of the 12 nations last year despite managing six wins.
European sprint hurdles champion Andy Turner will be favourite to replicate his victory from 2010, while world and European triple jump outdoor champion Phillips Idowu is expected to renew his rivalry with fast-rising youngster Teddy Tamgho, who holds the equivalent indoor titles. Idowu won their duel in this competition last year but still had to settle for second as Ukraine's Viktor Kuznetsov pulled off the biggest surprise of the weekend with victory.
