It's all about propagation in this week's Beechgrove Garden. Carole has been trialling half-hardy perennials such as osteospermums and penstemons which have been giving us colour all over the summer. Now Jim, Carole and Lesley show us how to take cuttings of these to overwinter for next year.

Carole visits John and Isobel Macdonald in Uphall, who have over 120 hanging baskets and containers with more than 1,600 annual bedding plants in their small bungalow garden. During her visit the judges arrived to assess John and Isobel's garden for the 2010 West Lothian Best Gardens competition.
