Digesting Kat and Michael鈥檚 betrayal, Alfie tells Phil he wants out of the Vic, but on hearing he鈥檒l lose his deposit, he鈥檚 left rethinking. Realising how much he loves Kat, Alfie is stirred into action.

Meanwhile at the hospital, Michael returns; insisting on seeing the baby on the ultrasounds before he leaves. Learning that the baby鈥檚 a boy, Michael鈥檚 delighted and asks Kat to go with him to Spain. Unrelenting, Kat maintains that the baby is Alfie鈥檚. Michael insists that Alfie will never accept the child as his own and gives her until tomorrow to make a decision. Concealing his hurt; Alfie returns to Kat. Wracked with guilt, she prepares to come clean but stops on realising that Alfie doesn鈥檛 love the child as his own. With Alfie unable to guarantee how he鈥檒l feel towards the baby, Kat鈥檚 left crushed. Meeting Michael, she agrees to leave with him. Alfie watches on; devastated.

Having taken a call for Billy, Jay quizzes him as to whether it鈥檚 connected to the letter. A defensive Billy claims it鈥檚 regarding money. Jay conveys his concerns to Phil, who reveals the truth about the kids鈥� home abuse investigation. Billy attempts to apologise to Jean for humiliating her, but when Stacey intervenes, he snaps. Billy berates Jay for stealing Greg鈥檚 tools, but Jay retaliates by confronting Billy about his past. With Billy unwilling to talk, Jay accuses him of being a coward. Snapping, Billy punches Jay.

Carol busily prepares for Billie鈥檚 arrival. She鈥檚 crest-fallen on learning that he鈥檚 instead celebrating his birthday with friends in Southend.

Grace chases Dot about the launderette job. An unenthusiastic Dot tells Grace that, having been a teacher, she鈥檚 over-qualified for the job. On realising Grace鈥檚 loneliness, a guilty Dot asks her to cover her job whilst she鈥檚 away.
