AIDS sa Ugràin

AIDS sa Ugràin
Leis a' ghalar AIDS a' sgapadh nas luaithe agus nas farsainge na ann an dùthaich sam bith eile san Roinn ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹, tha Ugràin air lagh ùr a chuir tron Phàrlamaid ann an oidhirp cuideachadh leis an t-sabaid an aghaidh a' ghalair. Ach le roinnean riaghaltais sgaraichte mun dòigh as fheàrr airson dèiligeadh ris, agus cion-airgid airson cobhair mheidigeach, tha ceist mu dè seòrsa buaidh a bhios aig an lagh.

Thadhal ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ air Odessa, "seud a' Mhuir Dhuibh", sa cheann a deas far an deach a' chiad eisimpleir den ghalar a lorg san dùthaich còrr is fichead bliadhna air ais. Ann an prògram sònraichte, fhuair Iain Macaonghais beachd air na trioblaidean sòisealach a tha ceangailte ri duilgheadasan AIDS agus e a' coinneachadh ri na daoine as motha a th' ann an cunnart – luchd-cleachdaidh dhrogaichean, siùrsaichean, agus clann a tha fuireach air na sràidean. Ach le fianais gu bheil an galar a' gluasad bho bhuidhnean so-leònte dhan mhòr-shluagh, tha dragh gu bheil ginealach air fad ann an cunnart.

AIDS in Ukraine

AIDS in Ukraine
AIDS in Ukraine is now spreading faster and more widely than in any other country in Europe, and a new law has been put through the Parliament aimed at supporting the fight against the disease. However, with government departments at odds over the best way forward, and a lack of funding for medical help, there are questions about how effective the law will be.

·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ visited Odessa, "the jewel of the Black Sea", in the south of Ukraine, where the first example of the disease was discovered in the country more than twenty years ago. In a special programme Iain Macinnes examines the social issues linked to the AIDS epidemic and meets some of those in most danger – drug users, sex workers and street children. With evidence that the disease is moving from those vulnerable groups to the wider population there is a concern that a whole generation could be at risk.
