Carl's excitement at starting the badminton unit is short-lived when he discovers the new coach, Elliot, has a particular interest in picking on him. Carl challenges Elliot to a badminton match and, with a little magical help from Porter, manages to win, which further enrages the coach. Carl and Porter realise that the only way to deal with Elliot is to expose his tyranny to Principal Malone.

Meanwhile, Jane is determined to go undercover and write an expose on Brittany's cruel Frenemy Club for the school paper. As part of her initiation, Jane exposes one of Alex's secrets, making him the laughing stock of the school. But no sooner does Jane make it into the club than she is given a taste of her own medicine.
