Steve and Tracey Jones

Property series. Presenter Jules Hudson helps a Lincolnshire couple who are looking to transform a collapsing barn into a luxurious five-bedroom house.

Britain's Empty Homes is back to throw the spotlight on the million or so properties lying empty or abandoned across the UK.

Jules Hudson will show how derelict buildings have been given a new lease of life, and will also follow teams of Empty Property Officers whose mission it is to get these properties back into use.

Former car salesman Steve Jones and wife Tracey have taken the plunge and staked everything they own on a collapsing barn in rural Lincolnshire.

It stands in a two-acre plot and comes with full planning permission to turn it, and the out-buildings, into a five-bedroom house.

But this is all uncharted territory for them. Taking on this project is not only a huge financial commitment for the family, it also means they're going to have to live in a caravan for as long as it takes...

A project like this is a major challenge for a professional developer - let alone a couple with limited experience and a modest budget of 110,000 pounds. Presenter Jules Hudson wants to ensure that they're making the right decisions from the very start.
