Sarah and Simon Wright

Property series. Presenter Jules Hudson helps a Sussex couple who want to find a character cottage in a village where they can walk their dogs, on a budget of 190,000 pounds.

Britain's Empty Homes is back to throw the spotlight on the million or so properties lying empty or abandoned across the UK.

Jules Hudson will show how derelict buildings have been given a new lease of life, and will also follow teams of Empty Property Officers whose mission it is to get these properties back into use.

Accounts manager Simon Wright and his flight attendant wife Sarah would love to find a home in the countryside of Sussex or Kent, close to Sarah's work. Married for nearly 4 years, they've spent that time living in the house Simon bought for himself, so Sarah is keen to be let loose on a place of her own.

They would love to buy in to the rural dream and find a character cottage in a village where they can walk their dogs.

But after a three month search on their 190,000 pound budget they have not found a home, so they are thinking a vacant property in need of improvement could be the affordable answer.

With no experience of renovation they need all the help they can get. Which is why they have enlisted the help of experienced renovator Jules Hudson.
