Episode 2
Nick Robinson persuades a Preston street to give up all council services. Will they do some things better than the council, or will they be begging them to come back?
Nick Robinson presents a unique social experiment. He has persuaded one street in Preston to give up all council services for six weeks. Armed with their council tax rebates, the 50 residents must rally round and run their own community themselves.
What happens when rubbish is no longer collected, street lights go out and neighbours now depend on each other for their benefits? Will the residents do some things better than the council or, at the end of it all, will they be begging them to come back? Will it galvanise their community, or tear it apart?
