The Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat came to power in 2008 insisting that Jerusalem should forever remain the undivided capital of the Jewish state. But no city has had a more turbulent history and it lies today at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Palestinians themselves want to establish the capital of their future Palestinian state in at least part of Jerusalem. So is Nir Barkat a visionary or is he ignoring reality? He talks to Tim Franks.
