Rajiva Wijesinha, Advisor to President of Sri Lanka

Amid reports of attrocities on both sides in the Sri Lankan civil war, Rajiva Wijesinha, advisor to the president, is asked if there can be reconciliation without justice.

More than two years after the Sri Lankan army conclusively defeated the separatist Tamil Tigers there is powerful evidence to suggest that both sides committed serious war crimes in the closing stages of the conflict. A UN panel concluded as much in April; in June graphic video footage screened on British television added to the international pressure for an independent investigation.
