Johnnie catches up with keyboardist Ian McLagan, a former member of the Small Faces and then Faces who regularly toured Britain, Europe and the United States from 1970 to 1975, and were among the top-grossing live acts in that period.
After the band split in the autumn of 1975, Ian pursued a solo career starting with his 1979 debut solo album, Troublemaker, followed by Bump In The Night the following year. More notably, Ian worked as a sideman for The Rolling Stones, as well as many other big names.
In 2010, Faces reformed with Mick Hucknall on vocals and Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols on bass. Since then, the band have joined together for a few select shows, including playing festivals this summer from Belgium to Japan. Ian also spent this August on his solo tour across the UK and still performs regularly as the bandleader of his Bump Band in Austin.
McLagan was awarded the Ivor Novello Award in 1996 for his outstanding contributions to British music. He also has been a member of Billy Bragg's band The Blokes since 1997.
Also on the show, American soul singer P. P. Arnold talks about her favourite music from the 70s, and Johnnie spins some gems from a classic album of the decade.
