Johnnie spins the hits from a colourful and eclectic decade and he's joined by Nile Rodgers, one of the architects of disco music, who shares his memories of the 70s.
It was in the early days of the decade, as part of a backing band in New York City, that Nile met his musical partner Bernard Edwards. Together they formed Chic, whose grooves, style and hooks went on to become the backbone of disco.
Just after the release of his memoir, Le Freak, An Upside Down Story of Family, Disco and Destiny, Nile's memories of his incredible decade are fresh in his mind. He brings to life the iconic Studio 54, remembers writing huge hits from Le Freak to the much-sampled Good Times, and how he survived the "Disco Sucks" movement.
It was also in the 70s that Nile started his production career, writing and producing Sister Sledge's 1978 debut album We Are Family. Nile would go on to produce Madonna's Like A Virgin, David Bowie's Let's Dance, Duran Duran's Reflex nd would play on Michael Jackson's History.
Also on the show, Johnnie features music and archive interviews around a classic 70s album.
