The impact of budget cuts on frontline policing in the region. Plus, the innovative project that employs ex-cons, giving them new skills to prevent them from returning to crime.
Alastair McKee investigates the impact of budgets cuts on frontline policing in the West of England. In Gloucestershire he discovers that most of the county's police stations are being closed down to save money. The force has decided to put less of its money into bricks and mortar but will also have to cut nearly two hundred officers over a four year period.
Plus an innovative project to stop former prisoners from returning to crime. Ex-offenders are being employed to renovate dilapidated houses in Bristol. The aim is to give them new skills and help them to go straight.
And Alistair Durden meets an athlete from Bath dreaming of a place on the podium at the Olympic Park in London. Ben Rushgrove won a silver medal in the 100 metres at the Paralympics in Beijing despite running with a broken bone in his foot. This time he aims to go one better.
