Presenter Joe Crowley challenges primary school pupils to use modern technological tricks to unearth clues about the unsung historical heroes who lived, worked and often made major discoveries in their home town.

The young historical detectives unearth fascinating information on Muriel Matters from Hastings in Sussex, the campaigner for women's rights who broke the law to help win her battle for equality in the House of Commons. And the history hunters also discover the truth about Thomas Andrews, the Belfast-based designer of the ill-fated ship Titanic, who is often blamed for the disaster.

History Hunt shows how inquisitive children can piece together clues revealing fascinating historical stories - right on their own doorstep. The programme also includes features on how to use newspapers to research history and how to get the best out of interviewing people with knowledge of a historical figure or theme.
