Frank Renton celebrates the 15th anniversary of the film Brassed Off, with music from The Grimethorpe Colliery Band's anniversary tour and writer/director Mark Herman.
Recorded in The Town Hall Birmingham (which doubled as the Royal Albert Hall in the film) we relive some classic moments as the band play the march Death or Glory, Danny Boy, the Adagio from the Concerto de Aranjuez and enjoy again one of their famous numbers, the finale to the William Tell Overture.
Mark Herman recalls how using a brass band in the film was something of an afterthought and talks about how he went about casting from conductor to soloists to the band itself.
