Listener Craig Birchley tries to achieve his dream of cooking an edible three course meal for his daughter, plus Ghillie Basan discusses the best way to learn to cook in adulthood.

Listener Craig Birchley loves food but by his own admittance he is a rubbish cook. Recently widowed, he suddenly had to learn to cook and has had some very mixed results. His dream is to be able to cook a three course meal for his daughter. Chef and restaurateur Steven Devlin was on hand to give him a quick cookery lesson and The Kitchen Caf茅, along with his daughter, were there to taste the results.

Learning to cook as an adult can be a daunting task, especially if you have children who rely on you, but with some simple building blocks and key recipes that you've mastered, suddenly it doesn't seem so insurmountable. Cook and world food expert Ghillie Basan talks through the best ways of learning from scratch.

You will be able to download the recipes for all three courses from The Kitchen Caf茅 webpage:

Piedmontese peppers with buffalo mozzarella
Sea bream with roasted squash, avocado & feta salad, gremolata dressing
Roasted pineapple with cheesecake cream, ginger & maple.
