ELIZABETH HALLS
Elizabeth鈥榮 mother was adopted which meant that, as a child, she never knew her maternal birth grandmother. She recalls the moment when she first found a record of her grandmother鈥檚 death and which lead to the discovery that she was a well-known poet and artist in Coventry, during the Second World War. Reading her poetry, Elizabeth developed a real connection with her, in terms of both family and faith. 听听听听
TONY GASKELL
Tony Gaskell and his wife were looking forward to retirement together when they were faced with taking over the care of their two young grandsons. Shortly afterwards, Tony鈥檚 wife died and he brought them up alone. He talks of how his prayer helped him through both the grief of losing his wife and his struggle to bring up the two boys on his own.
ELEANOR HART
Eleanor鈥檚 grandmother was the author Jennifer Worth, whose best-selling memoirs of life as midwife have been dramatized in the 麻豆官网首页入口 series, 鈥楥all the Midwife鈥�. She recalls early memories of her grandmother and how these have inspired her to train as a midwife and how her grandmother鈥檚 faith sustained her during her final illness.
OUR LAST INTERVIEW
This was filmed with two interviewees whom we are unable to identify, for legal reasons. They talk about the seven wonderful years they had with their grand-daughter, before their son divorced, and they lost all contact with her. After the initial grief, they decided to set up a support group for grandparents in similar circumstances and they talk about the greater force which they feel steers them in this work.
