Episode 8

The end of the Summer season on Barry Island heralds the end of the iconic funfair. Revellers parade through the capital's rain-lashed streets for the inaugural Cardiff Mardi Gras.

On the Pembrokeshire/Ceredigion border, hoteliers Owen and Philippa Gale seize a slim window of opportunity between weddings to squeeze in a total refurb of their ballroom. Have they bitten off more than they can chew? At Barry Island, it's the end of the summer season and the end of an era for Vernon Studt and the iconic fun fair. Cardiff Mardi Gras battles a mini monsoon as the revellers parade through the capital's streets for the first time ever. And on the tidal island of Cribinau, off the Anglesey coast, the summer season comes to an end with a double christening and the retirement of Canon Reverend Madeline Brady. Will this mean an end to services in the idyllic little church in the sea?
