In this episode Joe meets John and Jackie White, who plan to leave London for a new life by the sea. They are keen to find an empty property which will maximise their budget and give them the freedom to create their dream home. However, with no experience of renovation they are looking for advice and reassurance. Joe shows them an empty bungalow on the Essex coast that gives them food for thought and then introduces them to a couple who have recently transformed a similar bungalow into a beautiful place to be.
