Jenson Button may have taken the chequered flag in 2011, but it was pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel who was left with the widest grin as he became the youngest double world champion in the sport's history. Vettel, then aged 24 years and 98 days, finished third to secure the necessary points required for him to become only the ninth driver to win back-to-back crowns. The German found himself under investigation after he cut off Button's attempt to pass him off the line, but the stewards took no further action, much to the Briton's frustration.

Fernando Alonso completed the podium with a second-placed finish, with Lewis Hamilton having to settle for fifth following a puncture and a clash with Ferrari's Felipe Massa.

David Coulthard is on hand to offer his expert analysis of the race.
