This race was only added to the calendar in 2010, and neither of the two previous drivers to take pole position in qualifying went on to claim victory. Last year's pole sitter Lewis Hamilton finished runner-up in the race to Sebastian Vettel, who had qualified quickest for the inaugural Korean Grand Prix won by Fernando Alonso.
