Episode 5
Following the people working at Aberdeen harbour. The ferry sets sail for Orkney and Shetland. Pilots Tim Wingate and Jeff Gaskin celebrate the births of their respective babies.
Aberdeen Harbour, on the North East coast of Scotland, is one of Britain's oldest businesses and one of Europe's most modern ports. It is the heartbeat of the offshore oil and gas industry. Every year, more than eight thousand boats pass through the harbour waters, helped by the hidden world of the men and women who keep it running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is their story...
This week, we're with the crew of the ferry as it loads up then sails north for Orkney and Shetland. With over 380 passengers aboard, there are a lot hungry mouths to feed.
In the boatman's bothy, the talk is also of food. Billy Duguid loves two things; a plate of scallops fresh from the North Sea and winding up colleague Craig Massie over their Torry v Footdee rivalry.
And the stork arrives in the harbour not once but twice as pilots Tim Wingate and Jeff Gaskin both welcome new arrivals to their families.
