Episode 4

Series chronicling a summer in Wales. The iconic funfair in Barry closes, and revellers take to the capital's rain-lashed streets for the inaugural Cardiff Mardi Gras.

The fourth of a four-part character-and-story led series that chronicles summer 2012 in Wales. At Barry Island, it's the end of the summer season and the end of an era for Vernon Studt and the iconic fun fair. Hoteliers Owen and Philippa Gale seize a slim window of opportunity between weddings to squeeze in a total refurbishment of their ballroom. Have they bitten off more than they can chew? Cardiff Mardi Gras battles a mini monsoon as the revellers parade through the capital's streets for the first time ever. For Cynon Valley allotment owners Horace and Mervyn, there's both heartbreak and joy at the Rhondda Cynon Taf county show. And on the tidal island of Cribinau, off the Anglesey coast, the summer season comes to an end with a double christening and the retirement of Canon Reverend Madeline Brady. Will this mean an end to services in the idyllic little church in the sea?
