Janine is back and full of confidence; it is not long before she is trading blows with other Walford residents, including Kat. Meanwhile, Tanya puts Max on the spot.

At Michael’s, Janine finds Kat with Scarlett. Kat stakes her claim as Michael’s friend but Janine is suspicious. Kat warns Janine that she can’t just walk back into their lives. Alone with Michael, Janine says his attitude and her post-natal depression drove her out. Michael is livid. He’s struggled with Scarlett. He says it was the best day of his life when she left but Janine says she missed him. When Michael asks why she’s back, Janine says Michael will hear from her lawyer – she’s come back for Scarlett. As her car drives off, we hear the sound of Scarlett crying in the house. Michael’s left standing alone on the street.

Tanya asks Max if he was ever going to tell her about Kirsty’s baby. Max confesses that he thinks it’s not over between them and was scared of pushing Tanya away. He reveals the arranged abortion. She assures him that they are over and is angry that Max’s selfish desires could force Kirsty into an abortion. She urges him to think about what Kirsty wants. At the B and B, Kirsty is frantically packing and calls a cab. Kat spots her and sees she’s taking enough clothes to run away. Kat begs Kirsty to stay and talk to Max. Upset, Kirsty reveals there’s no baby. She lied so Max wouldn’t leave her for Tanya. Kat says Kirsty must tell Max the truth, believing he’ll forgive her if he loves her. Coming back from talking to Tanya, Max spots Kirsty and asks to talk, not go to the clinic right now. Kirsty tries to confess Max interrupts, apologising for treating her badly. He wants her to be happy and to be a mum. Guilty, but feeling relieved, Kirsty bursts out crying – she loves him and she’s so happy.
