Alan Fernie

Alan Fernie's music is played all over the world, a fact which, he tells Frank Renton, pleases and amazes him in equal measure.

Alan Fernie is one of the top arrangers of his generation with brass bands all over the world playing his music, a fact which pleases and amazes him in equal measure. Tonight he talks to Frank Renton about what he thinks makes a great arrangement, recalls being tipped 拢50 after conducting a performance of his own controversial arrangement of the Madness hit Baggy Trousers and explains why he called time on his career as a professional trombonist.
