Paul Martin is joined by experts Mark Stacey and Catherine Southon as they value antiques and collectibles in the port of Dover. The team then heads over to the cathedral town of Canterbury for the auction.

Among the items which flood through the doors of the Dover town hall, Mark becomes enchanted with a Meissen figurine and hopes that it will hold a similar allure for the bidders at the auction. Catherine falls in love with a Minton jardiniere whose owners have put it to some unusual uses over the years.

Paul manages to find something of local interest - a portrait of Lady Dover. Taking a break and heading down to the seafront in Dover, Paul learns about a tough physical challenge - swimming the English Channel, and he is lucky enough to make the acquaintance of a local lady who has conquered the crossing.
