A special programme revealing the wide variety of wildlife that can be seen and enjoyed in our towns and cities.

David Lindo, aka The Urban Birder, takes to the water for a unique urban safari around Salford Quays. He then heads into Manchester to explore the wildlife living in the country's biggest municipal cemetery before joining a bat-watch in a local park. David goes on the trail of hedgehogs and badgers in Warrington and finds a colony of birds with an unusual nesting site in the middle of town.

Rani Price concentrates on flowers, insects, birds and squirrels as she tries her hand at wildlife photography in her home city of Liverpool.

Southern Cemetery

Southern Cemetery

Southern Cemetery in Chorlton-cum-Hardy is the biggest municipal graveyard in England, made famous by The Smiths' song Cemetery Gates.

But amongst the grave stones of Sir Matt Busby, L.S. Lowry and Anthony Wilson, it provides an oasis for urban wildlife.

Wildlife presenter David Lindo finds the cemetery is teeming with nature from birds and bugs to grey squirrels.
