Tensions mount in the Branning household when Lauren decides to throw a party in honour of Jim's 80th birthday. Is she up to it? Dot's revelation shocks the family.

It’s Jim’s eightieth birthday; Lauren decides to throw a party in his honour for the Brannings and, at Carol’s request, Masood. Everyone’s concerned that Lauren’s not up to it but she’s determined, even insisting Max buy booze. Lauren’s relieved when Joey arrives at the party. After overhearing people talking about her Lauren’s tempted by a glass of wine but resists. Joey covers when Lauren drops a bottle. Dot’s unimpressed with the celebration; it’s a shame Jim’s children didn’t make the effort to go and see him. Later, Carol, Max and Jack visit Dot and promise her they’ll step up. Back at No.5, Joey and Lauren nearly kiss but are interrupted by Kirsty. Once Joey’s gone, a smiling Lauren tells Kirsty she’s good – really good.

It’s Whitney’s first day back at the play scheme. She realises Tiffany helped her get the job so she could keep seeing Bobby. Bobby teases Tiffany, Whitney disciplines him only for Dennis to lie to Sharon that Tiffany was teasing him. Sharon complains and is annoyed when Ava backs Whitney up.

Janine tells Michael she and Danny are an item and gives him a singles night flyer. Kat thinks Michael’s jealous and suggests Janine might be winding him up. Janine informs Danny what happened between them was a one off. Michael summons Danny to lay down some ground rules regarding Scarlett and Danny claims he’s cooled things with Janine. Michael hands the singles flyer back to Janine; she might want to give it a whirl.

Kat covers when Bianca asks what Alfie said about Ronnie. Kat signs herself and a reluctant Bianca up for the R&R singles night.

Roxy ends a call from Ronnie when she sees Jack. Jack assumes Roxy’s reluctance to let him take Amy to the Brannings’ party is an indication things will change when she marries Alfie.
