Dan Kelly and Family
Property series. Joe meets the Kelly's, who are renovating two empty Victorian properties in rural Herefordshire.
Joe Crowley offers invaluable advice for viewers looking to rescue a house for themselves and finds out more about our housing stock, our heritage and why we should be both reinventing and preserving Britain's Empty Homes. The show features ambitious renovations and inspirational transformations, but also highlights the work carried out by the UK's Empty Property Officers, whose job it is to get unoccupied homes back into use.
In this episode, Joe meets the Kelly's, who are renovating two empty Victorian properties on the same plot in a conservation area in rural Herefordshire. One - a tiny one-up, one-down cottage - will be a home for grown up daughter Clare when she returns from working in Dubai. The other, a derelict chapel, the family will sell on after renovation, to fund both projects. They are keen to share their ambitious plans - and to get as much guidance as they can. To give the Kelly's tips and inspiration, Joe introduces them to a local couple who have successfully converted a similarly small Victorian cottage into a large modern family home.
Joe also heads to Portsmouth to showcase the renovation of the city's oldest - and it is claimed, most haunted - building in to affordable family homes. Plus we follow Empty Property Officer Dave Carter on his mission to save abandoned houses in Enfield.
