Alex Salmond's Chief Strategist Colin MacKay was quoted earlier in the week as saying that he couldn't state as fact that an Independent Scotland would achieve a currency union with the UK, which has led to opposition parties to call for a Plan B should currency union fail. At yesterday's First Minister's questions Mr Salmond re-stated his commitment to the pound and said that the party's white paper on Independence would confirm its retention.
