Father Ted Rogers

This year we commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.听 Ted Rogers describes his life as a merchant seaman bringing precious cargoes across the ocean to Britain. The brave men who served on the Atlantic convoys were in constant danger of attack from German U-Boats. On his very first voyage, Ted鈥檚 ship was hit by a torpedo and听he was left stranded at sea; an experience that would change his life forever.

Captain Bruce Ekman

In 2011 Captain Bruce Ekman was serving with 42 Commando in Afghanistan when the personnel carrier in which he was travelling hit a roadside bomb.听 He talks about his journey to recovery and how his faith has been invaluable in coming to terms with his injury.

Arthur Hinton

At the outbreak of World War II, Arthur Hinton declared himself a conscientious objector. Still wanting to help to relieve suffering, he volunteered for the Friends' Ambulance Unit. His work with the FAU took him across Europe providing care, clothing and support for displaced persons and concentration camp survivors.听 This year, a new monument at the National Memorial Arboretum was erected to mark the service of the brave men and women of the Friends Ambulance Unit and the Friends Relief Service.
