In an archive recording Kitty Morter, recalls the moment her young husband Percy joined the Army and Laura Clouting from the Imperial War Museum talks about recruiter and music hall star Vesta Tilly. Seida Saric, Country Director of Women for Women International Bosnia and Herzegovina, on women's role in building stable communities following conflict.

A night out to Manchester鈥檚 Palace Theatre in 1914 was to change the lives of Kitty and her young husband Percy Morter forever. Looking back, Kitty describes the moment when music hall drag artist Vesta Tilley put her hand on her husband鈥檚 shoulder and recruited him into the war effort. Seida Saric
Seida Saric was a student in Sarajevo when the Bosnian war broke out in 1992.听Rather than flee, she chose to stay and help civilians trapped in the war-torn city.听With the newly created charity , Seida focussed on helping women, many of whom were struggling to support their families after being widowed, displaced, and brutalised by war. Over 20 years later, Women for Women now operate in conflict zones across the world.
