About this week's guests

Gyles Brandreth is a writer, broadcaster, former MP, reporter on The One Show and a regular on Radio 4鈥檚 Just a minute. In this episode he tried to get the following into Room 101:
  • The electorate. Giles held the seat in the city of Chester until he was voted out in 1997. Putting the voters into room 101 was his chance to get revenge!
  • Passwords 鈥 Giles doesn鈥檛 want to have to learn another password, even though his wife insists on having different passwords for all of his accounts 鈥 which he can never remember.
  • Acceptance speeches at award ceremonies 鈥 Giles doesn鈥檛 like the way that recipients at awards ceremonies thank their mum/grandmother/anyone. He insists that if he won an award, he wouldn鈥檛 make a fuss.

Adam Hills starting performing stand-up aged 19 and his comedy career has gone global, presenting shows in his native Australia and The Last Leg in Britain. In this episode of Room 101 he wanted to submit the following:聽
  • Abs 鈥 Adam feels the pressure to look good from other celebrities, particularly Bruce Springsteen. But he thinks looking ripped is a modern obsession: 鈥淲hen did it become important for people to have really honed abs?鈥
  • Naming rights on public stadiums 鈥 Adam loves going to sporting events, but doesn鈥檛 like it when modern stadiums are named after brands. To him is cheapens the experience.

Melanie C is most famous for being one of the five members of The Spice Girls, but has also carved a successful solo career.
Here is what she attempted to relegate into Room 101:聽
  • The amount of the choices of toothpastes. Even though Melanie was the part of a marketing campaign in the past to 鈥楰eep Britain Smiling鈥, the finds the different choices of toothpastes on the market overwhelming.
  • People who think she is deaf 鈥 When Melanie gets recognised in the street people will often shout out or will try to take her picture, not realising she has already noticed that she鈥檚 been spotted.
