Bishop Patricia Storey
Patricia Storey is the first woman to be elevated to Bishop in the Anglican Church in the UK and Ireland. Although she is now the Bishop of Meath and Kildare, her last parish was Saint Augustine鈥檚 Church located on Londonderry鈥檚 historic city walls. Pat was a rector in the city during the 2013 year of culture celebrations and experienced at first hand the opportunities that this special year gave to the churches in Derry.

Foyle Search and Rescue
Like many other UK cities, Derry has a problem with a large number of deaths by suicide. Many of these deaths involve the River Foyle that flows around the city. As a community response to these tragedies, twenty years ago Foyle Search and Rescue, was founded. This volunteer led, community funded charity, work on the front line to prevent death by suicide. Its volunteers patrol the city鈥檚 bridges and waterfronts on the look out for vulnerable people. They are also work with families affected by suicide and also sadly in the recovery of individuals from the river. 听听听听

Rev David Latimer
David Latimer has been the minister of First Derry Presbyterian Church for twenty-five years. During that time he has experienced life in an often-divided community. Several years ago, David spent some time as an army chaplain in Afghanistan where he witnessed at first hand the horror of war. Intent that these scenes should never return to his city, David has led several community building projects, including The Pathway To Peace. This project involved school children from across the city coming together to create twenty-five word peace pledges that were then written onto clay tiles. These tiles now form a pathway around Derry鈥檚 Peace Garden which contains the only World Peace Flame in Ireland.听

Blessing given by Fr Paul Farren and Archdeacon Robert Miller
The blessing is taken from Saint Patrick鈥檚 breastplate, a popular prayer attributed to the patron saint. According to tradition, Patrick wrote the prayer in 433A.D. for divine protection before successfully converting the Irish King Leoghaire and his subjects from paganism to Christianity.
