Glenarm Tulip Festival

We start this week with 8000 tulip bulbs - planted in Glenarm Castle in the Autumn last year and now in full bloom ready for this weekends Glenarm Castle Tulip Festival - Estate Manager Adrian Morrow has been keeping an eye on them all winter and Lady Dunluce who's idea the festival was, is delighted with how her place is looking – we’ll join them both live from Glenarm Castle. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The tulip festival is at Glenarm Castle Saturday 3rd May - £5 and Children under 12 FREE - the Castle is open for guided tours on Monday from half 11 til 4. Tours leave from the Walled Garden car-park approximately every 20 minutes.

Lissan House

Lissan House

Lissan House is a magical and enchanting place near Cookstown, County Tyrone, and it came runner-up in the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's Restoration programme back in 2003. Now, after years of struggling they've managed to gather enough money to make the house safe and secure and give the outside of it a facelift. It's a place with an amazing history – Anne Marie took a tour of Lissan House in the company of local man Neil Watt, one of the Directors of the Lissan House Trust<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Lissan House is now open for tours and there's a special Lissan at War event on Saturday 10th May at 11am with music Glen Miller style, dancing, living history, and archery.

There’s a Free Astronomy Evening taking place in the museum beside Bangor Castle at 6.30pm, and you can avail of telescopes and binoculars, handle meteorites and explore the Star Dome Planetarium. For more info visit

Darach MacDonald – a Monaghan man, now living in Castlederg - has written a new book describing his experience as a modern day pilgrim, it’s called ‘Tochar - Walking Irelands Ancient Pilgrim Paths’. In it,he travels the length and breadth of the country exploring places associated with spirituality. Paul Moore met him near the infamous St Patricks Purgatory in Lough Derg and took to the ancient pilgrim path to find out more. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Hands up Slieve Gullion

Hands up Slieve Gullion

There’s a big charity event happening in South Armagh on Sunday morning - just before Drumintee - on Slieve Gullion mountain - 570 metres, 1800 feet high! Hundreds will gather to create a human chain from the bottom to the top of it! And they need volunteers - Local woman Niamh Treanor is leading the ascent - she's on the line to us now, with Slieve Gullion in your sights. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Helping Hands - a human chain from the bottom to the top of Slieve Gullion is happening tomorrow - meet at 9 0’ clock and then join hands at 11 0 clock.

The Islander Festival

The Islander Festival

It’s festival time, but a festival with a difference – jump aboard a boat, climb a hill top, connect with nature and explore a magical landscape that only Lough Erne in County Fermanagh can provide. That's the notion behind the first ever Islander Festival on until Monday, at islands throughout the lough.
