This week Adam takes a closer look at the cutting-edge renewable technology being used to power many of the National Trust’s sprawling properties in Wales.

Plas Newydd on Anglesey was once the costliest stately home the Trust had to heat. But that massive heating bill has disappeared, thanks to a pioneering system which harnesses the warmth of the sea. The marine source heat pump is the largest of its kind in the UK and it’s powered by a large array of solar panels, cleverly placed on the estate. Adam takes a tour with Trust Environmental Adviser, Paul Southall, and finds himself inside the ‘magic’ black box!

Alan Daulby reports on two hydro-power schemes run by the Trust in the heart of Snowdonia, which provide electricity to their castles in Wales. And we hear how a ‘light bulb’ moment really did save the day for the famous art in many of the Trust’s properties.
