Keeping Up Appearances

Reality series revealing the everyday heroism of the traffic police. Featuring the police on patrol at one of the country's busiest intersections.

In West Yorkshire, five motorways and two major cities meet in one of the country's busiest intersections.

PCs Chris Spencer and Mike Wroe are patrolling the M62 and checking number plates for illegal cars when they pull over a vehicle without valid insurance. The driver's reaction surprises the cops.

Debbie Collinson and Matt Hemingway have a unique working partnership - they are married. When responding to a call of a van suspected of being involved in theft, they set off to find it, but the search draws a blank. Just half an hour later, their luck changes.

In South Bradford, PCs Mark Claxton and Andy Cox are heading out of the city at rush hour doing random checks on passing vehicles. After stopping a car with no MOT, the officers struggle to get a word in as the woman behind the wheel explains herself.

Working a night shift on Britain's motorways often means a smaller volume of traffic to deal with, but it does not mean there are fewer offences. On the M62, Mark spots a car travelling at speed. After catching up with it, the driver pulls on to the hard shoulder and admits he was speeding between jobs.

After dealing with their uninsured driver, Chris and Mike are heading back in to Bradford when a car they are passing quickly turns off the road. Without warning, the driver cuts his headlights and heads off at speed. The cops pursue the car through the back streets of Bradford.

PCs Dale Brown and Dan Kellett respond to a tip-off of a driver who may be under the influence of alcohol.
