Arthur France MBE

Arthur is the Founder and Chair Person of the Leeds West Indian Carnival. He was driven by homesickness to set up the Carnival 鈥� to bring a taste of the Caribbean to Leeds.

Hughbon Condor

Hughbon is one of the country鈥檚 most respected Carnival costume designers. Over a 30 year period, he has made 50% of the winning costumes for the Leeds West Indian Carnival.听

Brenda Farara

Brenda is Leeds born and bred and is a teacher at Leeds City College. She has been involved in the Carnival for a long as she can remember. She makes her own costumes and writes and performs songs for the Carnival.

Andy Brooks (Testament) of Homecut

Andy Brooks is a local Hip-Hop emcee, producer and beatboxer and front man of .听Andy (otherwise known as Testament) also does beatboxing workshops in schools and with community groups,听teaches hip hop to young people and to young offenders.听He regards hip hop as an international phenomenon which has always reflected the communities it has come from and the life experiences of people there.听As a Leeds-based artist, Andy is proud of the huge amount of hip hop heritage which comes from his city.

Steve Rayner

is a photographer who lives on a narrow boat near Bingley. His particular interest is in old fashioned methods of developing photographs. After many years spent in commercial and social photography, Steve now spends a lot of his time passing on my skills and enthusiasm to others in workshops and courses. He teaches photography at Leeds City College, and听also works on art projects and commissions.

听

Sue Matthews听 听 听听

Sue has loved writing all her life, and after doing English at University, became a teacher.听While teaching, she suffered a period of depression.听Writing poetry, and being part of the Leeds Survivors Poetry Group 听鈥� for people who are living with or have survived mental illness - 听has been part of her recovery.听The Survivors Poetry Group has guest speakers who are well known poets and also runs a fortnightly writers workshop whereby members write, read, and discuss their own work.

听

Si Smith

is a Christian Illustrator who lives in Leeds. One of his recent works is a set of illustrations of encounters that the disciples had with Jesus after his resurrection. Si set the encounters in modern-day Leeds and called the series 鈥楻aised in Leeds'.听Si is a also a member of the community which is an arts orientated Christian based community which occupies the former St Margaret of Antioch Anglican church in Leeds.

Kristyna Myles

Singer-songwriter and former Radio 5 Live鈥檚 鈥楤usker of the Year鈥�. leads the congregation.
