Switzerland: Stolen Childhoods with Kavita Puri

Kavita Puri goes to Switzerland and hears the extraordinary stories of survivors who lived as indentured child labourers.

From the 19th century until the 1970s, thousands of children from poor backgrounds in Switzerland were sent to work on farms as cheap forced labour. Many of these verdingkinder, or contract children, experienced years of physical and mental abuse. Now, campaigners have launched a petition to pressure parliament to pay them compensation. For Our World, Kavita Puri goes to Switzerland and hears the extraordinary stories of survivors who lived as indentured child labourers.
