Road Safety: should 20mph be the limit?

More than 40 towns and cities in England covering a population of around 11 million people have made 20 mph the default speed limit in residential areas in recent years.

Cardiff and Wrexham are both piloting community-wide 20 mph areas but so far no Welsh authority has committed to going down the road first taken by Portsmouth in 2008.

On the eve of Road Safety Week, Eye on Wales explores why councils in England and Wales have taken such different routes and asks if – in times of deep cuts in council spending – blanket bans of speeds over 20mph are the best use of resources.

Presented by Charlotte Dubenskij.
