D貌mhnall fought at First Ypres and his elegy to the dead, "Dh'fhalbh na Gillean Grinn", details fierce fighting in October 1914.

Gillean Grinn looks at war through the prism of shinty as broadcaster Hugh Dan MacLennan reveals how the Battle of Festubert was a pivotal point during the war and the devastating effects were keenly felt in Scotland. WW1 cast a long shadow and is now viewed as being the defining event of the 20th Century; impacting on a global and a local scale.
