A Bell for Columbanus
Two bells have been exchanged between Bangor and Bobbio in Italy in the name of the legendary - and hugely influential - Bangor Monk Columbanus, to commemorate the 1400th anniversary of his death. We hear from tourism Officer, Alex Irvine, who says it's an important first step in developing the Christian heritage of North Down.
Clandeboye House
One of our finest country homes lies on the main
Belfast to Bangor Road, famed for it's walled gardens and landscaped grounds, all 200 acres of them. With a special food, craft and garden fair taking place, the grounds are open for one day only. We hear from Fergus Thompson, the head gardener, and Karen Kane, one of
the managers.
Flowers for the Church
Helen
Mark meets flower arranger James Burnside in Garvagh ahead of
the Drumachose Flower festival in the Limavady region.
Newry's Lock Gates
Newry Canal was the first summit level canal to be built in Ireland or Great Britain and the Inland Waterways Association plan to develop that summit level stretch. The gates are now ready but as Peter Maxwell explains, getting them installed is easier said than done.
